The legendary Chubby Checker is coming to Houston with his signature blend of boisterous rock ‘n’ roll. Let’s twist into the 21st Century when Chubby Checker arrives with his band, the Wildcats. Checker’s seminal recording of “The Twist” climbed to No. 1 on two separate occasions (in 1960 and again in ’62). “The Twist” spawned a massive dance craze and thrust Chubby Checker into the national spotlight!
Chubby Checker is an American rock n roll singer and dancer. He is widely known for popularising many dance styles including the twist dance style, with his 1960 hit cover of Hank Ballard's R&B hit "The Twist" and the Pony with hit "Pony Time". In September 2008 "The Twist" topped Billboard's list of the most popular singles to have appeared in the Hot 100 since its debut in 1958, an honor it maintained for an August 2013 update of the list. He also popularized the "Limbo Rock" and its trademark limbo dance, as well as various dance styles such as The Fly.
Chubby Check & The Wildcats will be performing at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Tuesday, July 3 at 8:30 p.m. Relax in the covered seating area or enjoy a pre-performance picnic on the hillside. All performances at Miller are family-friendly. We hope to see you there!
