38 Planes, Thousands of People, One Tragedy: See It Unfold During a Performance of Come From Away

Broadway’s Come from Away is a Best Musical winner across North America—and it’s headed to Hobby Center for the Performing Arts!

This New York Times Critics’ Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all. Don’t miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony Award nominees, Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by 2017’s Tony Award-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Come from Away will play at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday, March 3rd through the 8th. The show is recommended for ages 10 and older. Tickets are on sale now at www.houston.broadway.com.
