Houston: The Jewel of the Lone Star State

Aside from being the biggest city in Texas, Houston is the fourth most populous city in the United States. The city features a number of unique neighborhoods, from the Museum District to Montrose, that accommodate people from all walks of life. Houston may be known to outsiders as the "concrete jungle," but it houses the culture one would expect out of a city with an expanding international community. Many annual events celebrate the diverse cultures of Houston. The largest and longest-running is the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, held over twenty days from early to late March. (It even has gained the prestige of being the largest annual livestock show and rodeo in the world!) Other annual events include the Houston Greek Festival, the Art Car Parade, and the Bayou City Art Festival, which is considered to be one of the top five art festivals in the United States.
